Chief Technology Officer
John Vandeven is Chief Technology Officer of St. Louis-based Spartech, an engineered materials solutions company. Spartech is dedicated to developing results that are sustainable, diverse, reliable and bring innovation to real-world applications.
Vandeven was named Chief Information Officer at Spartech LLC in 2017 when Arsenal Capital Partners assumed ownership of the PolyOne DSS business. Since then, Vandeven has taken on the role of Chief Technology Officer, which includes responsibility for the Spartech engineering teams, product development teams, and Innovation Center in Maryland Heights, MO.
Vandeven began his career working as a Production Systems Engineer at TG Missouri, a tier-one automotive interior/exterior injection molding company that supplied Toyota. In 2003, Vandeven joined Spartech Corporation in the role of Technical Service Manager, in which he focused on new product development, technical customer product support, and quality. In 2005, Vandeven moved over into an IT role, functioning as a lead on the production planning, manufacturing and scheduling track of a new Oracle platform. Vandeven held positions of increasing responsibility managing the Oracle applications, ultimately leading the site implementations and taking over the applications ownership for the organization in the role of Director of Applications Development and Support.
Following the sale of Spartech Corporation to PolyOne in 2013, Vandeven transitioned to the role of Senior Manager, IT Manufacturing Systems, responsible for the global MES, production planning, material management and quality SAP applications teams. In addition to those responsibilities, Vandeven led the SAP implementations at the PolyOne DSS locations.
Vandeven holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology—Industrial Management from Southeast Missouri State University.
In his free time, John likes to travel and go camping and smallmouth bass fishing. He enjoys spending time with his wife and three children—especially watching their sports and activities—and is an avid Cardinals, Blues, and college football fan.
