Polymer PET
Polymer PET
What It Is & Characteristics
Clear, lightweight polyester that can serve as a moisture and gas barrier.
Polyethlene Terephthalate (PET) is one of the most common resins in use today with the most robust recycling infrastructure. It’s a transparent polyester that can crystallize under certain controlled conditions. It is strong, ductile, and tough in its glassy state. PET can be oriented by stretching during the forming process which increases its mechanical properties even further.
Typical Uses
The most predominant use today is for single use water bottles. Many take-out containers, especially where clarity is important, utilize PET. Because of the robust recycling network, PET is gaining in popularity and many other applications are being considered daily. For decades PET has been used in conjunction with cotton in clothing applications to improve resistance to tear and wrinkling.
Sustainability. The Key To Future Value.
We have placed sustainability, environment, social and governance (ESG) issues at the very center of our focus. Not simply to comply with regulations and standards, but to drive true change that transforms tomorrow. This, we believe, is how real value is created.
