Polymer PS
Polymer PS
What It Is & Characteristics
Easily molded thermoplastic that is commonly used in conjunction with impact modifiers and foaming agents.
Polystyrene (PS) has been around since the 1930’s and its base polymer is very clear but very brittle. Therefore, most PS is manufactured by emulsion polymerization to produce high-impact polystyrene (HIPS) which while not being clear has enough impact strength to make it a very useful polymer for less demanding applications.
Typical Uses
Polystyrene is used extensively in household and food packaging applications, in home products such as garage doors and shower surrounds and for graphic arts applications (ex. indoor store signage). Foamed versions are used for insulation.
Sustainability. The Key To Future Value.
We have placed sustainability, environment, social and governance (ESG) issues at the very center of our focus. Not simply to comply with regulations and standards, but to drive true change that transforms tomorrow. This, we believe, is how real value is created.
